LO: To be able to identify how a website's formatting and content targets a particular audience.

This task is to get you thinking about how a website targets a particular audience and is preparation for your course this year.

Task 1 - Evaluating websites


1. Choose 2 websites, one that targets an adult audience and another that targets children.

2. Write a blog post that COMPARES the formatting and content of both. Use the list below to help you.

  1. What are the two websites you are comparing?
  2. Who is the target audience for each website and how can you immediately tell? 
  3. What is the purpose of the website? 
  4. Is the information relevant to users? 
  5. What special features have been used to make the website more appealing for it's audience? 
  6. Is it clear, up to date, accurate and unbiased? 
  7. Are the images meaningful for the audience? 
  8. Is the font size suitable ? 
  9. Is the site easy to navigate and use? 
  10. Does the site contain useful links?
  11. What colours have they used?
  12. How is the website laid out?
  13. What font have the used?
  14. What kind of language are they using?

Extension Task
