#10p4 Adding Music To Your Game



  • LO - To appreciate how music can be used to make a game better
  • LO - To learn how to add music into a game using GameMaker

  • OUTCOME - You will have added suitable music into your game


  • Write a new post on your blog telling me about how & why music can be used in a video game
  • What kind of music would be suitable for your game


  • Task 1 - Collect the music you will need
    • Go to yoyogames and find some suitable music for your game
    • When you have found it save it into your Sites folder --> D204SPB --> Products


  • Task 2 - Load the music into your Game
    • Click on the load sound button and add the music you have downloaded - give it a sensible name

  • Task 3 - Starting the Music
    • Create a new object called obj_startmusic
    • Add it to the room where you want the music to start

  • Task 4 - Stopping the Music
    • Create a new object called obj_stopmusic
    • Add it to the room where you want the music to stop

  • Task 5 - Documentation
    • Test your game - does the music work? If not why not?
    • Update your development log
    • Update your assets table
