#11n1 To The Rescue - GameMaker Lesson 1 - Creating your first game



  • LO1 - To understand the progress that you have made toward your year 11 target grade
  • LO2 - To begin to develop your gamemaker skills
  • OUTCOME - You will have created your first game in gamemaker and learnt some GameMaker keywords

  • Log in to your school email
  • Open your Google Drive (click on the 9 squares in the top right)
  • Find your year 11 mark sheet ( SURNAME Forename Year11 Unit5 ARS Sheet)
  • Loom through and see where you are at
    • GREEN - Done to target grade standard
    • ORANGE - Done but needs to be improved for target grade
    • RED - Not done 


If you are RED you need to attend a clinic this week - they are on everyday




1. Go the read drive and find my area
    • Desktop / File Store / Read / ICT / Mr Smith / GameMaker Tutorials

2. Copy the "Tutorial 1 - Click on the Fruit" folder into your area 

3. Use the worksheets in the folder to create your first GameMaker game
Try and learn what these key words mean whilst you make your game
    • Sprite
    • Object
    • Room
    • Event 
    • Action


4. Extension: Do tutorial 2 (platform) or 4 (scrolling shooter) next depending on what kind of game your are designing 



  • Log on your blog through your school email and start a new post
  • On your post explain what these key gamemaker terms mean
    • Sprite
    • Object
    • Room
    • Event 
    • Action


  • Attend a clinic this week if you have not completed all of your design work
