#9m7 #9n4 3d Characters Lesson 2 - Creating your 3d Nets



  • LO - to understand how a net can be used to make a 3 dimensional character

    Outcomes - by the end of the lesson you will understand what a 3D net looks like and will have designed yours on paper



  • Choose one of the different 3d character nets - cut it out and try to build it
  • Can you understand how it works? How could you make your own character using a net like this? 







  • Task 1 - Design Your 3D Hero Net
    • Using two of the empty net templates draw a 3d net for your hero and villain
    • The requirements it must meet are:
      • be a single net that folds to make the character
      • fit on one sheet of A4
      • include fold and cut lines, and areas to be glued
      • include clear instructions on how each character should be assembled

  • Task 2 - Design Your 3D Villain Net
    • Using two of the empty net templates draw a 3d net for your hero and villain
    • The requirements it must meet are:
      • be a single net that folds to make the character
      • fit on one sheet of A4
      • include fold and cut lines, and areas to be glued
      • include clear instructions on how each character should be assembled

  • Task 3 - Evidence Your Work
    • Using a digital camera take a photo of your character designs from last lesson and your 3d nets from today's lesson
    • Save them into your Sites Folder --> DA203SPB --> PRODUCTS --> 3D Character Designs
    • Give them each a sensible name so that you will be able to find them easily when you will need them 



  • Write a new post on your blog telling me what you have learnt in today's lesson
  • Do your 3d nets work? Could you make them better? How?



  • Complete your 3d net designs for next lesson if you haven't done it already
